Medical Social Officers’ Absence from Duty Fast Becoming the Norm

98

Medical social officers are responsible for the provision of medication for the poor and needy patients that frequent the government hospitals in Lahore. These medicines are funded by Zakat money or through donations gathered by the Patients’ Society. The officers are supposed to be on duty from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm every day. However, the offices often close by 2:00 pm. The patients, desperate for these vital medicines, are forced to look for alternate sources for their medication.
