Islamabad: Pakistan’s Polio Vaccination Campaign Declared A Failure
International monitoring bodies have declared Pakistan’s anti-polio campaign a failure given the continuing emergence of new cases in the region. It has been decided that the program may be transferred from the department of health to the national disaster management authority. However, the NDMA and polio emergency cell were also declared to be incompetent in terms of handling natural crisis situations. According to the report, polio virus in Pakistan has now reached the level at which it can attack any region of the country. Pakistan, along with 9 other countries, has been classified as a high-risk country from which travelers must get polio vaccination certificated before traveling.
