Bowlers shine as Pakistan triumphed in the second match of the T20 series against Zimbabwe earlier on Tuesday. The Green Shirts managed to win a margin of 15 runs after a neck to neck battle between the two sides.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Changes were made in the squad as all-rounder Muhammad Hafeez and pace bowler Muhammad Irfan made the cut. Mukhtar Ahmed and Wahab Riaz were benched for this game.

Pakistan opened its batting with the pairing of Muhammad Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad. The opening stand provided a 24-run stand as Ahmed Shehzad got out early. Sohaib Maqsood and Umar Akmal were the major contributors in the scoring, as Pakistan managed to score 136 with the loss of six wickets.

For Zimbabwe, the opening stand didn’t prove to be consistent yet again. Zimbabwe lost wickets in quick succession. Sikander Raza and Sean Williams shared a 60-run partnership but that didn’t prove to be fruitful. In the end, Zimbabwe felt short of 15 runs from the target.

Pakistan’s coach Waqar Younis expressed his views regarding the involvement of youngsters in the team. He said,

“Every team is looking to that World Cup and that’s what we are trying to do as well. That is why we are bringing youngsters in to have a look at them and see what our best team can be for the World Cup.”
