Air Operation in Tirah Valley – The jet planes targeted areas surrounding Nikkei Sipah, Turdara and Trakhas. In Nikkei, an arms depot was destroyed. The militants killed in the strikes belonged to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and Lashkar-e-Islam. In the attacks, 14 militants were injured, whereas their 3 of their safe houses were destroyed. In addition, the jet planes targeted militants in areas of Deta Khel, Ltkah and Kezameda Khel. The government is not verifying the details of the strikes as media personnel have restricted access in the area.
North Waziristan and Khyber Agency are among Pakistan’s 7 semi-autonomous tribal areas near the Afghan border. Foreign militants and homegrown insurgents are rampant in the area.
