5 home-remedies to help damaged dyed hair

When it comes to hair, people can be very particular. Your hair is actually like babies – they need a lot love, care and attention and if you don’t take care of them, they get angry and at times they just leave you.

These days we have multiple treatments, dyes, and machines to enhance the beauty of our hair. Striking and dying hair in different colors is the latest trend. Girls have gone crazy for dip dyes and streaking. Parlors give their customers surety that these dyes would only enhance the beauty and nothing would damage the hair… but unfortunately, that’s so not true. Dyed hair are more susceptible to damage.

Ironically, these dyes claim to increase the volume and beauty, but they end up damaging and destroying your hair. We don’t realize how cruelly we damage our hair by our very own hands through the use of dyes and then we run after expensive un-affordable treatments to bring our luscious strands back.

Well, if you have gone through a dye-disaster (as I like to call it) then fear not, there are many home-remedies that can help bring your hair back to normal.

We are very well-aware that chemicals are not good for our hair. They take all the life out of our hair, turning them dull and lifeless. In order to remedy it, you can use mehendi with coffee on your hair; the results will leave you shocked – and satisfied.

I don’t understand why we run after expensive, futile treatments when we can have many reasonable alternatives. Everyone has heard about protein treatment and, from a well-established beauty parlor in Pakistan, it costs around PKR 10,000 to 15,000, depending on the length of your hair. But what if you get the same results in a much more reasonable price?

You can get the same, nay better, results by using mayonnaise. Apply mayonnaise on your hair and make sure no part is left. After five minutes, cover your hair with a warm towel. Keep it on your hair for half an hour and then wash your hair – first with water only and three-hours later with shampoo.  By repeating the same action thrice in a month, you will notice an eye-catching shine in your hair.

Aloe Vera mask is another treatment which can do wonders to your hair. Just apply it regularly and see the change in the strength of your hair within days.

I once heard a girl in a parlor ask for dandruff treatment and the employee suggested her procedure that was worth Rs15000. Needless to say, the price was ridiculously high. A far less expensive treatment could have been opted for right at home. If you use vinegar on your hair twice in a week, you will get rid of dandruff. Make sure you dilute it with water.

Keratin treatment is another extremely famous and expensive treatment. For shoulder length hair, it costs Rs15,000. I have another amazing alternative for it. Using amla reetha sikakai with oil for a month, twice a week, gives great volume to your hair. Massage your scalp with a mixture of onion, ginger and lemon juice for better results.

We can use billions of natural things on our hair and the result of each will leave you amazed. Save your hair from chemicals and use natural products on them. You will see the difference very acutely.
